Choosing STDs and Team Margarita

So, I introduced my color scheme and invitation mood board in my last post. With my color scheme in mind, the first thing Saima designed was our save the dates. I didn’t give Saima much direction initially except that I wanted to include lotus flowers somewhere in the invitation suite (save the dates, invitations or both). I grew up Buddhist and I was an eastern religion major in college, so lotus flowers hold special meaning to me. There are many interpretations of what they can mean, but the one I like the best describes the lotus flower as the progression of the soul. The roots of the flower start in the mud of materialism and suffering, the stem travels through the water representing experience and growth in life, and finally the pristine flower lies above the water signifying enlightenment.

I knew immediately that I wanted either option 1 or 2. Option 1 was elegant, but option 2 had a lotus flower and was more unusual.

I can be indecisive and over think everything so I decided to poll my family and my close girlfriends. I received so much feedback ranging from minor wording changes to complete redesign. What I learned from this experience, and throughout the planning process, is that it’s better to avoid seeking the opinions of too large an audience. It really just makes things more complicated and the decision that much harder to make. Most of the time you just have a gut feeling and it makes decision making much less stressful. I’ve identified a team of my key peeps I consult with which include Mr. Marg, Momma Marg and my MOH. Of course now I’ll add the hive into my team :)
